Edtech 513 – Multimedia, final thoughts

Edtech 513 – Multimedia, final thoughts

So far so good. I did enjoy this class and looking back on it I learned quite a bit. Much of it seems like just common sense, but when framed with actual research based learning principles, it becomes much more tangible moving forward.

All of the actual technology that we used for content creation I had previously used with the lone exception of Adobe Spark. Two things stand out for me. I enjoyed the Clark and Mayer book and reading about the research behind the principles and I really liked the hands on projects of the content creation based on the readings. Although I still don’t fully agree with everything that was stated in the Clark and Mayer book, I do agree with the core testaments.

I will be able to use the methods learned here in my Carroll class by focusing on more of the why and how of the actual learning then on the technology itself. This course was able to validate much of what I believed to be true (much of it based on a graphic design background) but at the same time it forced me to use some great tools to create content. I have this trait where I look at a new product, play with it for a while and then move on to the next new thing. This class forced me to step back and get into the software a create some good content, I really appreciated that aspect.
